Hi, the default spam plugin is of course Askimet, but I myself use AVH First Defense Against Spam. It’s free and seems to be working fine for me for now. It has some good features that block IPs from spam bots and you can manipulate the sensitivity. If I come across anything better I will post on a Best WordPress Plugins page that is in construction.
